Ivan Stancioff
Non Executive Director
Ivan Stancioff joined the board of Balkan Holdings plc with effect 1st May 2005 as a non executive director.
Ivan Stancioff was born in Sofia and is a graduate of Georgetown University, Washington DC. After serving in the US Army he worked for IBM W T C in New York, Brazil and in Paris. In 1970 he was Director of the ITT-OTE Computer Project, Athens. He was Vice President International for both ITEL Corp. and Storage Technology Corp., working from London and in 1980 he set up his own IT Company – Cresta Marketing S.A. in Geneva.
In 1990, following the political, social and economic reforms in Central and Eastern Europe, he returned to Bulgaria.
In 1991 Ivan was appointed Ambassador to the Court of St. James and the first Bulgarian Ambassador to the Irish Republic. In 1994 he was appointed Bulgarian Minister of Foreign Affairs. From 1999 to date he has been an advisor on Foreign Affairs to both President Stoianov and President Parvanov, as Ambassador at Large.
Since 1995, Ivan has been actively involved in bringing foreign investments to Bulgaria. Cresta Marketing was responsible for introducing UniCredito Italiano to complete the privatisation of Bulbank, the largest Bulgarian bank and for setting up the Framlington Bulgaria Fund, the first company fund to invest in shares on the Sofia Stock Exchange.
